San Diego Botanic Garden Annual Appeal

San Diego Botanic Garden

I hope you have been able to enjoy the Garden’s tranquil serenity and beauty over this past year – and will continue to visit as much as you can.

The year has been a challenging one for all in our community. Yet, I have been able to see firsthand the important role that the Garden plays during these uncertain times.

I have also witnessed the incredible spirit of philanthropy from donors and friends of the Garden. Quite frankly, it kept us alive. The gifts of time from our many volunteers supplemented our staff’s efforts to keep our Garden beautiful. And, donations – large and small – helped us to retool our operations so that we could safely reopen, providing a much-needed tonic for children and families.

Yet, we have more work ahead.

As you consider your year-end giving, I hope you will consider a gift to our Resiliency Fund to keep our Garden growing!

I can assure you that your gift at this time will have a great impact –
It will be matched by an Anonymous Resiliency Challenge
, doubling your contribution!

  • The calm of the Garden is a restorative tonic. We must continue to maintain the beauty of our 37 acres and miles of trails to serve as an urban oasis of serenity, science and learning for children and families.

  • We must continue to expand our adult and family education experiences with online and onsite classes. We must also work to design distance learning programs to take the Garden to Title I schools and disadvantaged children, many of whom have limited exposure to nature and the science behind it.

  • Our plant collections of more than 5,000 species must remain vibrant. We currently have more than 300 plants not found in any other garden, many of which are endangered. Our invaluable plant collections fuel our exciting work to save San Diego’s plant life and restore our endangered coastal habitats.

  • Additionally, we must continue our global research partnerships, including our work that explores how plants can help draw down greenhouse gases to battle climate change.

Together, we can ensure the Garden will continue to flourish, and remain focused on the core components of our mission while safely sharing the Garden experience for all to enjoy.

Thank you so much for your past and continued support. Your gift matters.
With gratitude,
