Artist’s Statement: Rock…the chore of earth and a symbol of strength in the spiritual/ethereal world. It was my challenge to make it seem fluid and fragile by carving bending curves and creating black holes that give it its visually kinetic power. Thus, Equinox, where the explosive collision of planets of millions of years ago gave the world its energy represented by the steel rods that move delicately to the natural forces of nature/wind.
Artist Bio: Sandra Chanis L. was born in Panama City, Panama. She received her B.A. from Western College for Women, Oxford, Ohio and her M.A. from University of Dallas, Texas.
