Artist’s Statement: Conceptually my work deals with illusion, perception, and the essence of our visual reality, LIGHT. Within this context, I explore both the dark and light aspects of life. I see my work as a visual metaphor for how our particular perceptions of reality are simply our personal perceptions, which can appear quite different from another perspective.
Artist Bio: Deanne Sabeck has worked as a professional artist using glass as her main medium for 37 years. She has done numerous public art as well as both commercial and residential installations through out the USA and various other countries. Her work is shown in many galleries across the country including Kuivato, her own glass gallery in Sedona, Arizona, which has been in existence for 37 years. Trained as a painter, she received a BFA from Arizona State University and began her career in glass doing architectural stained glass commissions. Her current work is all about light. Using a reflective glass called dichroic, she creates spatial sculptural installations of light. The glass is bent, cast, fractured, and sometimes etched with text and or imagery, distorting and refracting the light spectrum, bathing walls, floors, and ceilings in vibrant color. Conceptually, the work deals with illusion, perception, and the essence of our visual reality, LIGHT. Within this context she questions our ideas of reality and perception.
