Spend the Saturday before Mother’s Day at San Diego Botanic Garden’s famous Chocolate Festival. Enjoy dozens of delectable chocolate tastings, demonstrations, a chocolate fountain, and more. This family-friendly event also features lots of children’s activities and a variety of Mother’s Day gifts. “Tasting” tickets will be sold on site.

Purchase at entrance to Chocolate Area.
Tasting prices vary.“Tasting” tickets starting at $1 will be sold on site the day of the event.

Cost: Free with admission or membership, plus tasting and children's activity tickets as desired.

This year, distinguished children’s author, Mara Price, will be here with her bi-lingual book, Grandma’s Chocolate/El chocolate de Abuelita. Mara has been selected by LatinoStories.com for the 2011 Top Ten New Latino Authors to Watch (and read).

 

 

 

 

Craft Activities for Children of All Ages

  • Pot a small succulent plant, and decorate the terra cotta pot with wood shapes, shells, beads and ribbons.
  • Paint a plaster ornament and sprinkle with glitter.
  • Create a colorful wreath from fabric flowers, ribbons, and a brown bag.
  • Make a butterfly collage.
  • Build a frog pond from a paper plate, construction paper, craft roll and paint.

Material fee between $1 and $3 depending on craft.

Join us as licensed Q Grader, Michael Gavina, shows how to pair your favorite Don Francisco’s Coffee with your favorite Helen Grace Chocolates and Desserts. Depending on the coffee type or blend, there are unique attributes which make a certain coffee better suited for particular types of chocolates and desserts.
