Tours

Docent led tours of the gardens are offered free with admission every Saturday at 10:30 am. Tours depart from the Visitor Center/Gift Shop area and do not require a reservation.

Private Tours can be arranged for groups of 15 or more people and must be scheduled at least 30 days in advance; an additional $25 fee applies to docent-led tours. Tours are available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays; and can be tailored to suit the group's specific needs or interests. Group discounts are available for both touring and non-touring groups with advance notice.

NEW! Waterwise Tour On the last Saturday of each month at 10:30 am, San Diego Botanic Garden will give a special tour featuring waterwise plants in the gardens. Yes, we have cactus and desert gardens; but if that isn’t your style, we have lots of other opportunities to save water. Learn about beautiful plants from around the world that will work in your garden and require less water, including plants from the Mediterranean basin, Cape South Africa, Australia, and Chile; plus our own California natives which are easy to grow in our climate with minimal care. You can see the plants at their mature growth and also learn how to use them effectively with other plants. There are so many alternatives to using large amounts of water in the garden. Come see our gardens and take home lots of tips for conserving water in your own garden.
