2013 Honoree Pam Slater-Price
former San Diego County Board Supervisor

We are pleased to announce that the 2013 Paul Ecke Jr. Award of Excellence honoree is Pam Slater-Price. For two decades, newly-retired San Diego County Board Supervisor, Pam Slater-Price, took a common-sense approach to government which secured her position as a respected woman in regional politics.

Slater-Price began her public service career in the late1980s in Encinitas where she served as councilwoman and mayor. She was first elected to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in 1992 and retired in January 2013.

During her time on the Board of Supervisors, Slater-Price has established a reputation as an advocate for open-space preservation, economic growth, increased transportation spending, law enforcement, animal welfare, and the promotion of the arts.

Over the years, she has generously supported numerous organizations and projects that help promote families, local businesses, sports, and the arts.

Pam has been an important supporter in the growth and evolution of this world-class botanic garden. She was here when San Diego Botanic Garden transitioned into a selfsupporting non-profit organization. She took an interest in its welfare and was willing to invest vital resources to help the Garden grow and become a destination for people throughout the country and the world.

From a generous and meaningful gift for the Tropical Rainforest to her and the County’s incredible support of the Hamilton Children’s Garden, Pam has helped elevate San Diego Botanic Garden to a new level of excellence.

Pam has been integral to the forward movement of San Diego Botanic Garden and for the many reasons listed above, we are honored to recognize her with the Paul Ecke Jr. Award of Excellence.

We congratulate and thank our past Gala Honorees.
