We invite you to attend the 11th annual Gala in the Garden,
ìCelebrating Environment and Stewardshipî on
Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 5:00 PM.

This yearís honored guest is Dr. Jodie Holt, Professor of Plant Physiology and Chair of the Department of Botany and Plant Sciences at University of California, Riverside. Dr. Holt was the botanical consultant for the blockbuster film Avatar, where she shaped Sigourney Weaverís character as a botanist and helped create and name plants for the film. We are pleased to honor her at the Gala with the Paul Ecke, Jr. Award of Excellence for her lifeís work as a distinguished scientist and educator.
Much like Avatar, San Diego Botanic Garden will be transformed into a wonderland of colors, lights and flora. Adding to the experience will be the areaís finest eateries serving a delectable assortment of their most celebrated dishes. Enjoy your stroll through the Garden by exploring the different landscapes, dancing the night away to the sounds of a live band, and winning coveted prizes in our silent auction.
Donít miss this chance to enjoy a magical garden party that promotes environmental responsibility while celebrating nature and conservation. ìWe (at the Garden) have a history of leadership as one of the regionís most environmentally conscious organizations, and we recognize that comes with a responsibility. At this yearís Gala, we look forward to growing even greener,î said Julian Duval, CEO of San Diego Botanic Garden. ìWaste will be composted or recycled, incentives provided for carpooling, and energy consumption reduced. Our goal is to promote environmental stewardship through preserving the natural beauty of the garden and the larger ecosystem within which they reside, for future generations to enjoy.î
Tickets are $175 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are available. All proceeds from this yearís Gala in the Garden will contribute directly to the growth of the Garden and fund essential projects, programs and exhibits.
