Boy Scouts at the San Diego Botanic Garden

Boy Scout Groups
Scout troops visiting San Diego Botanic Garden can begin with a guided tour of the Garden and then move on to unstructured nature exploration at the Hamilton Children’s Garden. Specific badge requirements can be met during the visit.
Cub Scout troops can complete badge activities for Forester or Naturalist as a group at the Garden with or without the assistance of a docent.
Boy Scouts
Older Boy Scouts working on individual badges may wish to visit as a regular guest. The Garden is a particularly useful site for Plant Science (Horticulture Option), Forestry, or Landscape Architecture Merit badges.
Eagle Scout Projects
Several Eagle Scout projects currently enhance the Garden. SDBG is available to work with individual Boy Scouts as they complete this important milestone.
Hamilton Children’s Garden
Any visit to the SDBG should include time spent in the Hamilton Children’s Garden designed specifically for children 6 years and older. Climb Toni’s Tree house, build a fort, make music and art, search for butterflies and enjoy time outdoors. Imagine a story in the ruins of a Cobb house, run through the grass maze or challenge each other in a huge game of tic-tac-toe.
