Common Name: Dinner Plate Fig
Growth Habit: This shrubby-looking, small tree can grow to 25’ tall and 35’ wide
Cultural Requirements: Dinner plate Fig needs regular water and at least moderate humidity. It is best grown along the coast as it doesn’t tolerate frost. Along the coast it can be grown in full sun, but it likes some partial shade.
Features/Uses: With huge leaves up to three feet long and two feet wide this can be a dramatic, tropical–looking focal point in the landscape.
Another attractive feature is the heart-shaped evergreen foliage.
Bloom Time: Flowers are not significant although the inedible green fruits are notable because of their softball size.
